Dr. Uwe Schwartz
Epigenetics and Bioinformatics Specialist

Welcome to my profile! I am Dr. Uwe Schwartz, a researcher passionate about exploring the fascinating world of epigenetics, bioinformatics, and NGS sequencing. My primary research focuses on unraveling the complexities of nucleosome positioning, stability, and dynamics, which play a pivotal role in regulating chromatin structure and gene expression.

As part of my work, I have developed several automated pipelines using Nextflow and Docker containers to streamline bioinformatics analyses:

  • nucMACC: A comprehensive tool for analyzing nucleosome positions, accessibility, and stability.
  • nucDetective: Designed to investigate nucleosome dynamics and positions across diverse MNase-Seq conditions.
  • RNAseq_NAC: An in-house standard pipeline for RNA-Seq data analysis.

In addition to my research, I manage the NGS Analysis Center Biology and Preclinical Medicine (NAC) at the University of Regensburg. Our center is dedicated to implementing best practices in bioinformatics and supporting researchers through consultation, analysis, and training services. We aim to foster cutting-edge research by providing robust and reproducible computational approaches.

Feel free to explore more about our work at the NAC on our homepage.
